Highlights 18 Days

Visit the Union Buildings, Voortrekker Monument and the Museum Houses in Pretoria. Then on to Botswana where we visit Francistown, Nata, the Nata Bird Sanctuary, Gweta, Maun and the Okavango Delta. Take a Mokoro ride along the Thamalakane River and visit the Ntwetwe Pan where you can interact with Meerkats. We also visit Mudumu National Park and Penduka Village in Namibia and take a sunset game drive in Modimolle.

Day 1

We arrive in Pretoria and undertake a city tour of the Jacaranda-lined city. Its eastern suburbs are dominated by the historic Union Buildings, the Voortrekker Monument and The Museum Houses in Pretoria. Overnight in Pretoria.
Day 2

Depart Pretoria and drive through the Limpopo Province, Limpopo holds some of the oldest and most comprehensive evidence of prehistoric human habitation, overnight at a lodge before the Botswana border.
Day 3

Depart from the Botswana border and travel to Francistown, one of the oldest towns in Botswana and the sight of Southern Africa’s first gold  80 000 years, but it was only in the 1860’s gold was discovered at Tati that the town was established. Overnight in Tati.

Day 4

Depart Francistown, stop for lunch in Nata and travel to Kasane, this little town east of the national park entrance gate is strung out along a shady-tree-lined avenue on the Chobe river bank. Many animals including elephant and hippo can be seen wandering casually through the streets of Kasane. Overnight in Kasane.
Day 5

Visit the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and have tea at the Victoria Hotel overlooking the majestic falls. The many activities at the Victoria Falls include white-water rafting, bungi jumping and helicopter flips. Overnight in Kasane.
Day 6

Enjoy an early morning boat cruise on the Chobe River, the world’s shortest border separating Botswana from Zambia(only 700 m long). Stop for lunch at Chobe Safari Lodge, then enjoy an open vehicle safari in the Chobe National Park, the second biggest National Park in Botswana. Overnight in Kasane.
Day 7

Depart Kasane and travel through the Caprivi Strip, take a cultural walk through Penduka Village and stop at Katima Mulilo for lunch, then continue to the Muduma National Park, overnight in Namibia.
Day 8

Depart Mudumu and travel through the Bwabwata National Park to Bagani Bridge where we cross the Kavango River. Overnight in Kavango.
Day 9

Take an early morning birding and nature walk on the banks of the Kavango river. After lunch take a boat cruise on the Kavango River, here you have the opportunity to see big herds of hippo, crocodiles and also visit the Popa Falls. Overnight at Nunda Lodge, Kavango.

Day 10

Depart Bagani and travel through the Mahango Game Park, Sepupa, Gumare to Maun. Maun is the tourist capital of Botswana and the administrative centre of Ngamiland. Overnight in Maun.
Day 11

After breakfast enjoy a Mokoro ride along the Thamalakane River that takes you deep into the Okavango Delta. Stop for lunch on an island and enjoy a leisurely bird and game viewing walk. Overnight in Maun.
Day 12

After breakfast, take a full day game viewing drive in an open safari vehicle in the Moremi Game Reserve. Moremi is described as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa, with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. Overnight in Maun.

Day 13

Depart Maun and travel to Gweta, overnight in Gweta.
Day 14

Visit Gweta and stop for breakfast before visiting the Ntwetwe Pan, here you will have the chance to see and interact with Meerkats.  At the Ntwetwe Pan you have the opportunity to drive through the pan on a four-wheeler, quad-bike or open safari vehicle. Overnight in Gweta.
Day 15

Depart Gweta and visit the Nata Bird Sanctuary, during the wet season the Nata River carries water from Zimbabwe into Sowa Pan, filling its northern region and attracting a variety of water birds. This area is also an important breeding ground for flamingoes and pelicans. Overnight in Palapye.
Day 16

Depart Palapye and travel to the South African border. In the afternoon enjoy an open vehicle sunset game drive. Overnight in Modimolle.
Day 17

After breakfast, take an early morning open vehicle game drive. Stop for lunch, and continue your game drive in the afternoon. Overnight in Modimolle.
Day 18

Depart Modimolle, drop off at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.
